Toronto Fencing Center 25th Anniversary

TFC has grown from eight University and Veteran Epeeists to 60+ competitive members and 30+ beginners ranging from 6-70 years old in both foil and epee. In 25 years we have produced 30 Canadian Cadet, Junior and Senior National Team members in both foil and epee (WE 16/ME 7/MF 4/WF 4). We have an in-house physiotherapy clinic, English tutoring service, conditioning equipment + instructors, armorer stations, equipment + provincial armorers,  showers, locker + changing rooms, conference room, laundry room, kitchen + Chef, outdoor bicycle trail + grass field, 8 walking distance restaurants + supermarket, all of which make TFC even better than I dreamed when I first came to Canada 25 years ago. Our 10 coaches from Ukraine, China, the Philippines, England, Hong Kong, Venezuela and Canada give our members exposure to different schools of thought in fencing. Our impressive parents and experiences members, who offer advice on selecting and running competitions, organizing parties, purchasing equipment abroad, and fixing equipment, make TFC a family. I don’t think I could manage without every single one of them. Our competitive members show our supportive club culture when travelling to competitions both locally and abroad. I am proud to be associated with of all of them, no matter whether they win or lose. I hope this spirit will continue to grow in the next 20 years, even after I retire from coaching.

With strong attention to detail

TFC’s fencers are known for being friendly and good sports while also being tough competitors. The quality of classes and training are among the best in the country. The TFC community is supportive and inclusive.  Events such as pot luck dinners, barbeques and movie nights create a team environment and help TFC fencers see personal growth both inside and outside the club. TFC knows that when fencers are having fun and working in a positive environment, they work harder, support each other better and push each other to be the best they can be.
